Le Bruyn’s 17th century Travels into Muscovy, Persia
and part of the East-Indies…London, 1737. Le Bruyn
spent many years traveling and recording the lands, inhabitants,
flora and fauna, archaeological sites and more from the Adriatic
Sea through Turkey, Palestine and Egypt.
Upon returning to his home in Amsterdam, Le Bruyn compiled
a lavishly illustrated narrative of his travels and experience.
Le Bruyn was one of the first Europeans to penetrate so deeply
into the Ottoman Empire. These engravings are rare.
